This week things are finally beginning to feel like we are getting back into the swing of things after the holidays. Michael and Vale are both getting solidly back into their academic work and the routine and structure are very good for both of them.
Friday morning I jammed my pinky toe on a perfectly obvious piece of furniture and broke it - the toe, not the furniture. It really didn't hurt much at the time but as soon as saw how crooked it was I got nauseated and my palms began sweating. I tried a couple times to pull it straight but had no success and after two tries it was hurting too much to try again so I just buddy taped it. By that evening it was much straighter. I only have one pair of shoes I can wear over it but I can hobble around. Happy New Year to me!

Of course there's also plenty of playtime as well.
I couldn't resist annoying these two even if they were being very productive.

When we're home Amanda and her dog, Pepper, are never far from each other.
Austin has been wanting a pet snake for years and finally was able to get one a few months ago. Doesn't it just look like the perfect companion for those times when you just want to chill awhile?

Places We've Been

The main place we went this week (besides work) was Michael's basketball practice and game. I'm so glad he decided to play again this year. He loves practices and has awesome coaches and teammates.

He was a little nervous about his first game Saturday but he played very well (He's #32, in black). The whole team played hard and worked together as a unit and it was great to watch.

What I am Reading
This is a book that I requested for Christmas and Amanda bought it for me. I haven't finished it yet but have thoroughly enjoyed what I have read so far.
What Michael and I Are Reading Together
We have watched this movie and it's one of our favorites so I thought maybe Michael would enjoy the book. I had several books for him to choose from for a new read-aloud and this is the one he chose. Personally I think the book is even better than the movie although so far it seems like the movie stayed very true to the book.
What Vale and I Are Reading Together
These are a couple of the books I am reading to Vale. We read more than just these two but there are regulars for us.
And that's a little summary of our week. It's been a good one and I'm looking forward to more fun next week - just, no more broken toes please.
